The Martin Memorial Foundation: Our Partnership With You
Hospitals occupy a special place in the community. They are places where life begins, where healing is the mission and hope is created every day.
Since 1939, Martin Memorial has been a touchstone for Treasure Coast Residents. Through the decades, there are been many changes, but one thing has never wavered--Martin Memorial's partnership with the people it serves.
Martin Memorial Health Systems is a not-for-profit 501-c3 hospital. We rely on your gifts to provide the medical excellence that our community expects and deserves.
You Can Make a Difference
By giving to Martin Memorial, you are investing wisely in your community healthcare system. Your gift helps to lower costs and save and rehabilitate lives. Your investment keeps excellent care as close to home as possible.
In addition to helping provide excellent healthcare, philanthropy can help minimize your tax burden and increase your financial flexibility. Income taxes, capital gains taxes, and gift and estate taxes may all be reduced through your generous giving. Please ask us, and talk to your accountant or attorney, to learn more about how giving can benefit you.

About the Foundation
The Martin Memorial Foundation was created in 1983 and has raised $37.1 million since its inception, helping to fulfill the health systems' mission of providing access to the very best care and services available.
As the only not-for-profit hospital in St. Lucie or Martin counties, Martin Memorial has benefited from the generosity of its neighbors, who recognize the value and importance of philanthropy.
Key Services Funded by Donations
Donations to the Foundation have been the driving force behind some of Martin Memorial’s key services, including:
- $8 million to help build the Robert and Carol Weissman Cancer Center in 1999.
- $2.5 million toward expansion of the Martin Memorial Hospital South emergency department in 2003.
- $2 million for a PET/CT scanner, state-of-the-art technology in the fight against cancer.
- $2 million toward installation of a Picture Archiving and Communication System that will allow physicians to interpret diagnostic tests quicker and more efficiently, aiding them in patient care.
- $500,000 toward Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy equipment that provides precise cancer treatment.
Funding the Frances Langford Heart Center
The Foundation is currently working toward its goal of raising $25 million over the next two years to help create our long-awaited heart center, which opened August 1, as well as funding for nursing education and other initiatives at the hospital.
